Union Chapel United Methodist Church is a community of believers called to God's mission of loving and serving people… all people. There are a number of ways you can engage and serve through regular activities at Union Chapel Indy...

Hearts & Hands-On Missions and Congregational Care Ministry
This missions and service group of Union Chapel Indy is comprised of ... anyone. All ages are welcome! Members often bring their neighbors, friends, and family along. This group's signature, ongoing project is creating simple-to-assemble fleece tie-quilts for the ill or those who have suffered trauma -- a gift of love from our congregation. This group also funeral meals, assembled outreach kits, wrapped hundreds of Christmas presents for the Angel Tree project, and much more! In turn, we are blessed by community, laughter, nurturing, great conversations, and deep friendships that develop over time, while we are doing some really good work. You're invited! For more information about how to get involved, contact Lisa Lorentz.

Lift Up Emergency Food Pantry
Union Chapel maintains a pantry of shelf-stable foods that are available to neighbors in need. Emergency Food Boxes contain about two days' worth of food and are available to anyone by contacting  or calling the church office at 317.846.3429.

If you would like more information about how you can get involved in the Pantry ministry, or donate to the pantry, please contact Lisa Lorentz

Blessing Bags
A practical way to be the love of God in a hurting world...
Union Chapel maintains a stock of "Blessing Bags" -- a package of foods, reading materials, treats, hygiene supplies, and other items that can be kept ready for those unexpected opportunities to spread kindness. Grab on in our western foyer and feel free to “make it your own” with a couple of added goodies or a personal note. Then keep it handy for an opportunity to spread the kindness and love of God -- perhaps handed to a homeless person on your way to work... or even given to a friend experiencing trauma. Time after time, we hear beautiful stories of how these intentional kindnesses lift the spirits of their recipients -- and ripple even further out into the world.

The Angel Tree at Christmastime
Reach out to Lisa Lorentz to learn how you can engage in our much-loved annual tradition of providing local families in need with Christmas cheer. (Active October to December)

Changing Footprints
Bring your shoes to church! For over a decade, Union Chapel Indy has partnered with Changing Footprints - an Indiana nonprofit collecting shoes: any kind, any size, and in any condition. Damaged shoes are recycled into playgrounds. Lightly worn and new shoes are distributed locally and internationally to those in need. In the past 5 years, over 1000 pairs of shoes have been collected at Union Chapel Indy, saved from a landfill, cleaned and refurbished, and distributed to local area charities.
