The Benevolence Box Ministry
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." -- Hebrews 13:2
Weekly (sometimes daily) Union Chapel is visited by "Angels unawares" -- random visitors to the church's side door -- most of them, folks who have simply found themselves in difficult... or tragic circumstances. We're not always sure how they came to find our church. And, it doesn't really matter; We are clearly called to hospitality, regardless.
"For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in..." -- Matthew 25:35-36
Throughout our history, Union Chapel has answered Christ's call to benevolence. Now, though, there is a new way that even a child can participate: Benevolence Boxes.
Benevolence Boxes are emergency food supplies that can be given to those in need on a moment's notice. Union Chapel supplies three kinds of boxes:

If you feel called to ease the suffering of those in need, there are multiple ways you can get involved!
- Consider a donation of funds or products.
- Consider hosting an event (like your own birthday party) where, instead of gifts, you ask for canned goods.
- Organize a food drive at school or your place of work.
- Consider joining the Benevolence Team that shops for and assembles the boxes each week. (Contact Lisa Lorentz for details:
