The Practice of Generosity
November 13, 2023
Dear Members and Friends of Union Chapel Indy,
On Sunday, November 19, we will gather in the sanctuary for a very special time of worship. In addition to excellent music, and all of the other quality elements we experience each week when we gather, we will consider and respond to this important question, “What financial gifts is God calling me to give through the ministry of Union Chapel Indy in 2024?” Rather than focusing on the need of the church to receive, this question invites the giver to consider their most generous response to God in thanksgiving for who God is and what God does. As we grow in gratitude and trust of God, as well as the practice of generosity, our spirits and lives are opened more and more to God’s presence, work, and power.
We explored this idea together in worship just this last Sunday, seeking to discover the many ways our praise and thanksgiving can express itself. (You can find this worship experience HERE.) In addition to heartfelt worship and living with an attitude of appreciation and gratitude, we learned that thanksgiving is also expressed in real and tangible ways as we give of our own holdings for God’s work in the world. This coming Sunday we will consider how we can most generously thank God for all God has blessed us with.
We hope and pray that you will be present in worship on November 19, 10:30 a.m., to celebrate all that God has blessed us with, and to consider your generous response as it relates to the work and witness of Union Chapel Indy. During worship, you will be given the opportunity to make a financial commitment to God through Union Chapel Indy in the coming year. If you are not able to attend worship on November 19, and do not make a financial commitment that morning, you will receive a single follow-up letter in the mail. Thank you for being a part of this ministry and making plans now to attend worship on Sunday, November 19.
With gratitude and thanksgiving,
Union Chapel Indy Finance Team: Donnie Ritzline and LeaAnn Koekenberg
