Union Chapel Indy is both pleased and proud to announce that Associate Pastor Jacob Tipantasig-Wolverton has been appointed as Lead Pastor of Community United Methodist Church in Naperville, Illinois (Northern Illinois Conference), effective July 1, 2023. While we are sad to lose him from this ministry and staff, we are humbled and grateful to recognize God’s work in his life and call, and we send him with joy. 

Pastor Jacob joined the staff of Union Chapel Indy in January 2021. Coming to us during a COVID suspension, his gifts in music, worship, and technology were immediately evident and employed in UCI’s online worship experience. Over these last 2+ years, Pastor Jacob has also provided leadership in the areas of children’s ministry, adult faith formation, discipleship, pastoral care, and administration. It has been a blessing to have Jacob’s contributions to this ministry and to have him and Luis and their family as a part of this congregation.

As a congregation, we will have plenty of opportunities to celebrate Jacob and his ministry here before he moves in early June. Very soon leadership will begin addressing the staffing needs his departure creates. In the meantime, please hold Jacob and his family in prayer, as well as Union Chapel Indy and his receiving church, Community UMC. We trust God will continue to use each and all of us through this time as agents of God’s love and grace, and that God will guide us all in appropriate and helpful next steps.
